A Norfolk primary school has gone green after being awarded a £10,000 grant.
Swaffham Church of England Primary Academy, part of the Diocese of Norwich Education and Academies Trust (DNEAT), has undertaken an extensive overhaul of its lighting.
Traditional light fittings were replaced by 127 energy-efficient LEDs thanks to cash from Breckland Council's Green Community Grants fund.
It is estimated that the school will save £2,210.04 per year and will make energy savings of 130,002 kWh per year.
The grant was obtained thanks to Joanne Oxborough, Swaffham primary's school business manager.
Howard Nelson, chief executive at the DNEAT, said: "The current climate means schools and trusts must be more resilient and creative in managing energy costs.
"It is fantastic to see the progress Swaffham primary has made and we would like to thank Breckland Council for making this possible.
"This is making a significant difference to our carbon footprint and we will strive to make further reductions."
