A new memorial will be built to mark the heroism of crews who flew from a Second World War bomber base.
Council planners have approved proposals to place a stone cairn near what was once the end of the main runway at RAF Downham Market off New Road, next to the Bexwell Business Park.
A planning statement from applicant Max Barnes said: "Bexwell Business Park forms part of what is left of RAF Downham Market, a bomber base which operated during World War Two.
"During three years of operations 937 airmen went missing; of which 773 were killed, 149 became prisoners of war and 15 managed to evade capture.
"Over the years there have been a number of proposals to erect some form of memorial, but nothing has been delivered to date."
The base, which became operational in 1942, housed squadrons including 635 Pathfinders.
It was abandoned after the war and its sprawling runways and dispersals were broken up and used for the foundations of the new A10 Downham bypass in the 1970s, while some of its buildings became part of the business park.
