Fire crews were called after a van crashed into scaffolding outside a home in Great Yarmouth.

It is believed to have happened on Saxon Road at about 8.50am this morning (September 18).

A fire crew from Great Yarmouth, an aerial ladder and support pump from Earlham and the Urban Search and Rescue Team were in attendance.

A Norfolk Fire and Rescue spokesperson said it had been reported that the car had gone into some scaffolding.

Speaking at the scene, station manager Roger Mitchell said: "We are lucky enough to have some specialist crews in Norfolk.

"Our Urban Search and Rescue Team responded to make sure the building is safe and liaise with building control to see what we can do to ensure it remains safe.

"There are no issues or hazards for locals. We just want to make sure the houses are safe before we leave.

"Building control have accessed it and it looks like the structure of the house does appear to be sound.

"We have carefully down the scaffolding – with the scaffolding company - and a cordon will be put in place around the loose brickwork. Then we will hand the scene over to the police."
