A man has been killed in an industrial accident on a railway line in a quarry near King's Lynn.
Officers were called to the Sibelco quarry in Leziate after reports of a man being hit by freight units.
The victim, a local man in his early 60s, is believed to have received fatal injuries as a result of the incident at 2pm on Tuesday.
A spokesman for Sibelco said: 'A fatal accident involving one of our employees occurred at our rail facility in King's Lynn on Tuesday.
'We are currently working with the emergency services and relevant authorities in establishing the cause of this tragic accident.
'At this moment in time, our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased.'
A Norfolk Police spokesman added: 'We are working closely with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to investigate the incident. A post-mortem examination is due to take place tomorrow.'
A HSE spokesman confirmed the government body was aware of the incident but could not comment further as Norfolk Police is leading the investigation.
