Young victim came from March and driver of the car she was in remains in Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge
The child killed in yesterday's two-car crash on March Road at Friday Bridge has been named as Francesca McLoughlin of Kingfisher Close, March.
The fatal accident happened at 10.17am on Monday 24 when a Peugeot 307 and a Ford Mondeo collided with each other on the road between March and Wisbech.
Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward. Sgt Chris Huggins said: 'I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle in the moments leading up to the collision.'
Paramedics had battled to revive Francesca but despite 'advanced level care' and resuscitation efforts she died at the scene of the accident.
A spokesman for Magpas Helimedix said: 'Sadly, despite all the best efforts of the helimedix working alongside fire and rescue crews and the police, a young child was pronounced dead at the scene. Our thoughts are with the family and friends at this time.'
Francesca had been travelling in a Peugeot car being driven by a 47-year-old man from March.
The driver was severely injured and treated by East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) and then flown to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge. He remains in a critical but stable condition.
The driver of the Ford Mondeo, a 49-year-old man from Nordelph, was injured in the crash but has now been discharged from Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn.
The accident was attended by ambulance crew and two air ambulance helicopters, one from Magpas Helimedix and one from East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) alongside police and fire and rescue crews.
