People watching their TVs in Norwich and across the county would have been among millions of viewers across throughout the UK transported to frontline military operations in Afghanistan as part of TA Live.
The innovative adverts, which will also be screened next Saturday and Sunday, capture TA reservists going about their everyday duties alongside their regular counterparts and are the first of their kind for the military.
It is hoped the minute-long adverts will help encourage ordinary people to do extraordinary things by volunteering to serve their country as a fulfilling second career with the TA, which is increasing in number to 30,000 by 2018.
The Norwich TA Centre on Aylsham Road is home to A Company 3 Royal Anglian Regiment (Infantry), the Norwich Detachment 677 Squadron, 6 Regiment Army Air Corps (Army Air Corps) and A Squadron 254 Medical Regiment.
Captain Dan Taylor, from the Norwich TA Centre, said the TA Live adverts not only highlight the modern day importance of the TA, but also the opportunities on offer to those who are thinking about joining.
Captain Taylor, pictured, who joined the regular army in 1975 but left in 2007 to pursue a career as a member of permanent staff in the TA, said: 'People may or may not be aware that following the government's recent defence review they've decided to cut the regular army but increase the size of the TA.
'One of the things we say to people is it's a fun thing to do. There's various duties people can do.
'In all of these regiments there are openings for drivers, chefs and mechanics as well as core infantrymen, medics, air crew or ground crew.'
Capt Taylor, who revealed the centre would be holding an open evening of its own on February 27, added: 'Anyone between 18 and 43 who is physically fit, male or female, we're more than happy to have a chat with and what the TA is and answer any questions they might have.
'It's rewarding, they get a fair share of military training, adventure training, there are opportunities to play sport and there's a social aspect to it as well.
'We're always recruiting and want people and those opportunities are definitely there.' Major General Ranald Munro, deputy commander Land Forces (Reserves), said the advertising campaign highlighted the opportunities on offer to those considering joining the TA.
He said: 'There has never been an advertising campaign like this.
'TA Live is an incredibly exciting opportunity to bring the TA to life and show just what a TA soldier does on the ground.'
The series of TA Live adverts will be broadcast on ITV1 throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday.
