Michael Carroll, now 30, won £9.7m on the lottery in 2002. But the 19-year-old famously blew the lot before being jailed for affray.

Last year Mr Carroll left his former home in Felbrigg Road, Downham Market, to move to Scotland.

He said he was happier than ever after landing a £6-an-hour job in a biscuit factory.

One national newspaper reported Mr Carroll had been given a room in a homeless hostel in Inverness after being dismissed from his job at the shortbread packing works. He told the paper: 'It's like a horror film - it's full of junkies.'

But a tabloid had a crumb of comfort, reporting Mr Carroll was in talks with film producers who wanted to turn his life story into a movie. Mr Carroll is said to want Eastenders star Danny Dyer to star in the film.

The former dustman turned up to collect his winnings wearing an electronic tag he had been sentenced to wear for being drunk and disorderly.

He said all he wanted was his own fishing lake and a Ford Orion, but he splashed out on a mansion near Swaffham instead and turned his garden into a banger racing track.

He blew his winnings on drugs, cars, parties and bling, arriving for a succession of court appearances clutching his trademark bottle of lager.

After being jailed for nine months for affray and breaching a drug testing order, in 2006, he said he planned to turn over a new leaf and become a celebrity.

One claim to fame was becoming the richest person to ever have an ASBO, earning one for annoying his neighbours with his back garden banger races, and another for shooting out of car windows with a catapult.
