The Great Yarmouth Classic Car Run will take to the road again this summer with up to 100 vehicles expected to join the show.

It's the third year east coast charity Centre 81 has staged the colourful attraction which was originally launched to mark its 30th anniversary.

It so captured the imagination the organisers have made it a regular event and a fundraiser for the skills and activities centre for people with physical and other disabilities and the door-to-door community transport service for those who can't access conventional public transport.

This year's run, on July 13, will set off from The Goat Inn at Skeyton at 10am and take a 64-mile route through Norfolk's villages, including a rest stop at Ludham, where bacon butties, tea and cakes can be bought by entrants and spectators alike, before arriving in Great Yarmouth for a seafront display.

Beautifully restored cars, dating as far back as the 1920s and 1930s, took part in last year's run which attracted a host of holidaymakers and admiring visitors to the seafront.

This time they will be parked on two sites during the afternoon, one next to Britannia Pier and the other near the Sea Life Centre to provide as much enjoyment and viewing as possible for everyone taking part.

Once more, they are hoping for entries from Broadlands MG Owners' Club and even a steam vehicle or two - which featured in the initial run but could not make it last year.

'We want to make it a bigger spectacle than ever and would consider other vintage vehicles, to take part alongside the cars, owners just need to call us to see if we have space,' said Julie Charles, Centre 81's skills and activities manager. 'To take part will be only £15 and a fun day will be guaranteed.'

On the day, judges will decide on trophies to be presented to the best car in the show, the best pre-70s vehicle and the best post-70s vehicle. Prizes will also be given to the 'Drippiest Car and the 'I'm Exhausted Award' for the car that has travelled the furthest to take part.

There are also plans for an auction, raffle and possibly stalls to help support the fund-raising activities. Centre 81 would like to hear from volunteer stewards or marshals to help with the event.
