A leading well management company that has driven business worth more than $1 billion dollars in the last seven years has rebranded to take on the identity of its Norwegian parent group.

Great Yarmouth and Aberdeen-based Fraser Offshore Ltd will now be known as Acona UK, two years after joining Stavanger-based Acona AS.

Fraser Offshore built a trusted reputation in offshore drilling by managing more than 50 complex wells on drilling and well abandonment projects in the last decade and front-line engineering on more than 200.

Clients include Centrica, RWE and EOG in the North Sea and East Irish Sea.

Its 50 UK employees now join the 400 staff in Norway under the established Acona name, sharing its distinctive red branding and logo.

The union has brought a desired international footprint for Acona UK with increased development opportunities for its staff, particularly ambitious graduates employed through its graduate training scheme DETS (Drilling Engineer Training Scheme).

Acona Group has added Fraser Offshore's proven track record of well management expertise to its portfolio of well drilling and technology services. Offshore Ltd.

Acona UK managing director Douglas Nunn, who established Fraser Offshore, said the time was now right to rebrand as one company.

He said: 'Acona Group has brought a terrific depth of resource.

'The international opportunities for employees are now greater. Our graduate engineers want to travel and seek international work. They are the future of the industry and Acona was the ideal platform for them to experience other parts of the world.'

Since 2007, Fraser Offshore has managed contracts worth £680m (just over $1 billion).

Its project teams had unrivalled continuous activity in the Southern North Sea, he said.

'We have been drilling wells since inception in 2004 and currently have two jack-up rigs working in the Southern North Sea.'

The company's design and drill service operated as 'bolt-on' drilling departments for operators' oil and gas well projects.

'We are like an oil company's drilling department. We adopt a client's identity – we wear their hat,' he said.

The union had created 'a powerful new force in the well management sector with drilling experience from the North Cape of Norway to the UK Southern North Sea,' Mr Nunn said at the time of the acquisition.

Offices in Aberdeen opened in 2012 to service the North Sea market, connecting Acona UK to the Central North Sea and Northern North Sea markets whilst also offering Aberdeen based clients the full Acona Group service offering.

At the time of the 2012 acquisition, Acona Group stated: 'This acquisition is another step towards realising the company's ambitious growth strategy and reinforces Acona's position as one of the leading companies in Europe in well planning operations.'
