A factory near Fakenham, claimed to be the largest producer of wine racks in Europe, has been saved after its parent company went into administration.

The news will be a huge relief to staff who would have been concerned about their jobs in the lead up to Christmas,

It is also hoped the factory's troubled past is behind it, having changed ownership four times in the last two years.

We reported last month how PCS Brands, the parent company of RTA Wine Rack, based on Station Road, Great Ryburgh went into administration.

One hundred and four staff at other sites throughout the country lost their jobs, but the nine workers at the Great Ryburgh factory were kept on while administrators KPMG tried to find a buyer.

It has just emerged that RTA Wine Rack has been bought by three businessmen from the north of England.

All nine workers at the Great Ryburgh factory have kept their jobs and the business is now trading as RTA Global.

Production supervisor Chris Alexander, 27, said: 'Everyone at the factory is delighted.

'It is very pleasing that jobs have been secured just in time for Christmas.

'We are now looking forward to getting our quality products back out into the world.'

The RTA Wine Rack company was established in Great Ryburgh in 1979 and has grown from a small family business to, according to the PCS Brands website, 'the largest single producer of wine racks in Europe.'

It has supplied traditional crafted wine racks to countries throughout the world, including Australia, Canada, Kazakhstan, Trinidad and New Zealand and won the prestigious Queen's Award for Export twice – in 1994 and 1997.

In the UK, the business's customers include John Lewis, Tesco, Argos, Marks and Spencer and BHS.

The factory has, however, just come through a challenging period, having now changed ownership four times in two years.

It is not yet known if new jobs will be created by the move, but Mr Alexander said: 'We plan to expand our large customer base in the UK and overseas.

'We very much hope our troubles of the past are behind us and we are looking forward to a positive future.'
