A new restaurant offering 150 dishes from around the world could soon be coming to Norwich city centre.

Cosmo Restaurants, which offers pan Asian food and world banquet dining, already has more than 15 outlets across the UK, but none in the East of England. But a poster on the window of the former Habitat store in London Street announces that a restaurant is opening soon in Norwich.

The poster reads: 'Enjoy over 150 dishes from around the world freshly prepared from our live cooking stations. All for one set price.'

A spokesman for the firm, whose first restaurant opened in Eastbourne in 2003, said there was no fixed opening date yet for the new restaurant.

The new restaurant will take up part of the former first floor of the old Habitat building, which closed in 2011, after 26 years in the city. A change of use from shop to restaurant has also been approved by Norwich City Council for two mezzanine floors.

The Gym Group opened a new gym on the second floor of the former Habitat site in 2012.

Stefan Gurney, executive director of Norwich BID, said that it would be a 'positive' move if the restaurant chain moved to the city.

He said: 'We want to see that space filled as it's a prime location in the city centre. We always encourage new businesses to come to the city.'
