Rose Lavall, 56 and her partner Stephen Burns are the owners of the new Yakety Yak Tea room on Bullock Fair Close, and have designed their new venture on the 1940's and 1950's, combining it with the British love of tea.

Ms Lavall said: 'Steve and I wanted something we could do together and liked the idea of a vintage tearoom. We looked at several places, and settled on this one in Harleston. It was a furniture shop, so we have had to transform it into a tearoom.'

The pair have transformed the premises to reflect the eras past and customers can chose from 12 different varieties of loose leaf tea, served in a traditional tea pot with bone china tea cups and saucers.

Mr Burns said: 'It was hard work to start with but we have been going from strength to strength, every day it gets better. Harleston is a lovely town.'

The couple from Attleborough wanted to create a welcoming atmosphere and the vintage venture has been highly welcomed into the town since it opened in December.

Customer Margaret Butcher, 69 said: 'I welcome the new Yakety Yak Tea Room to Harelston, It echoes times past when you were pleasantly served with good fare in quiet comfort.

'I wish them every success so that I can enjoy the comfort of the tea room for years to come.'

Served alongside the variety of tea are homemade bakes and light bites which in keeps with the tradition of afternoon tea.

Ms Lavall said: 'Customers really enjoying our tea, scones, cake and light food, it is going very well so far. Harleston is a lovely town and the people have made us feel very welcome.'

Yakety Yak Tea room's on Bullock Fair Close is open Monday to Saturday from 9am through to 6pm and Sunday's 10am through to 4pm.
