Tractors great and small took to the streets in a show of support for a charity helping bereaved children.

The Suffolk and Norfolk branch of the David Brown Tractor Club, based at Flixton near Bungay, held an Easter Monday tractor run to raise funds for Nelson's Journey.

Starting at The Buck Inn at Flixton, 37 tractors went on a two-hour run around the area, taking in airfields and off-road tracks.

And after paying an entry fee for the event and collecting sponsorship, organisers hope they will be presenting a big cheque to Nelson's Journey.

Club chairman John Chapman said: 'It's a good opportunity for us to get together, drive our tractors and for people who aren't members, to come along and join in.

'It's one of our main fundraisers for our chosen charity - which we also supported last year.

'We decided because it was such a wonderful cause that, very unusually, we would support it for a second year.'

Last year's tractor run for Nelson's Journey raised £750, which was topped up to £1,000 by other charitable activities the club put on over the year.

And they are confident this year's total will be just as impressive.

Tony Tibbenham, 65, from Freethorpe is on the club committee and said: 'We thought they were a very worthy charity.

'It was a lovely run and the club members all have a good time together, it's nice to do something a bit different.'

Also supporting the run was Nelson's Journey volunteer Lucy Coote.

'The club has been really, really supportive,' she said.

'They raised over £1,000 for us last year and it looks as if they are going to meet that this year, which is brilliant.'

Farm worker Stephen Balls, 63, brought his family along for the day.

'It was very enjoyable,' he said. 'I do several tractor runs a year - I just like driving them.'
