The overnight rain and play-off match between Ipswich and Norwich failed to make a dent on the second week of the season's fixtures, writes Mike Ridout.

In Division One newly-promoted Blundeston sprang somewhat of a surprise at last season's runners-up Belton, with Connor Ingram's 71 being the mainstay of their batting, whilst Graham Talbot's 3-18 proved decisive in Belton's reply.

At Felthorpe Dan Tipple's 93 and Steven Ridout's 75 not out helped put on a total of 281-4, which proved too much for Kirkley and Lowestoft Railway who could only muster 107. Felthorpe's Markus Leake took 4-20. Meanwhile Chris Alger rolled back the years, scoring 69 and taking 6-29 as they defeated Cringleford Lodge.

In Division Two, despite 53 from Liam Smith, Costessey lost to St Andrews in a good match, largely due to Wayne Wright's 5-30 and Andy Scales' 78. Despite some good batting from Mally Howard (52) and some excellent bowling from Neal Clarke (4-59), Great Melton still succumbed to a strong Ketteringham Hall side. Saxlingham followed up a good win last week with a second this, with Mohamed Nifras (77) and David English (61) starring.

In Division 3E there was an exciting finish at Frettenham where Felthorpe A got home by two wickets with two balls to spare. At Aylsham St Giles Rob Bingham scored 43 and took 4-36 as they defeated Winterton A while in a low-scoring game 16-year-old Jake Zelos of Overstrand starred with 5-18 as Gillingham were bowled out for 78. Tim Porter's patient 14no saw Overstrand home. In 3W Saham Toney A, Reepham & Salle and Swanton Morley continue to set the pace, all winning for the second time.

In 4E another Rollesby player continues to show the youngsters how to do it, Jimmy Catchpole taking 5-28. However this was not good enough to help them beat Halvergate, for whom Perry Kelf scored 86, and despite scoring 200 Kirkley and Lowestoft A lost to Martham A by two wickets.

An unbeaten partnership between Jack Dainty (74no) and Nick Butcher (72no) saw Colney home for the loss of one wicket against Rocklands A – for whom Ben Webster and Sam Mouser, in his first game for the club, had earlier scored 50 and 53 respectively in 4W. Another strong batting performance from Great Ellingham proved too much for Ketteringham Hall A, but New Buckenham lead by one point as the only other unbeaten side in the division after two games.

Beeston seem to be continuing where they left off last season with another fine display in 5E. Ian Sayers' 4-29 helped them restrict Swanton Morley A to 128, before the batsmen knocked off the runs.

In 5W, Beetley's Harley Tye (165) and Paul Taylor's knocks (85) meant they posted an imposing target of 300-2 which proved far too much for a young Dereham A side. Thornham won for a second time, Kevin Williamson (120no), helping them get past Mundford A for whom Owen Smith's 52no and Oliver Chandlers' 76 had helped them set a good target.
