It's a £1 million 'shed' designed to bring the outdoors inside and it was given a big thumbs-up by dozens of youngsters on its first weekend open to the public.
Hootz House at Pensthorpe Natural Park is an extension to WildRootz, the outdoor adventure play area which opened two years ago.
There were smiles all round and squeals of delight from the children who were lucky enough to have a sneaky preview of the new indoor play area, complete with slides, rope bridges, tunnels and towers, before it opened to the public on Saturday.
Owners Bill and Deb Jordan said the giant, timber-clad building was 'always on the cards' as it was officially opened by the attraction's junior board members.
Mrs Jordan joked: 'Bill couldn't believe that a tin shed could cost so much but it is so much more than that. Since we came here in 2003 we have tried to make this nature reserve more fun for families and we have learned a huge amount along the way.
'Our aim has been to roll education, play and family enjoyment into one big exciting day out, ensuring the next generation has all the necessary tools to expand their love and knowledge of the natural world.'
The play equipment was designed and installed by Eibe, a German company with a UK branch based in Surrey, who said the Pensthorpe scheme was one of the biggest they had created.
It also has impressive green credentials using a ground source heat pump laid along the bed of one of the lakes.
Nadia Jolly, chairman of the junior board, said: 'I think it is lovely to be able to play indoors or outdoors and it is really fun. I could never have imagined such a lovely play area.'
