Venues across King's Lynn are joining forces to put on a free event for children of all ages featuring dragons, craft workshops, fun activities and performances.

A dragon will roam the streets looking for a brave young adventurer to tame him, the Corn Exchange will be transformed into Sherwood Forest, a beanstalk will take root in Tuesday Market Place, Norwich Puppet Theatre will present Thumbelina at the Guildhall Theatre, Rapunzel will let her hair down at Clifton Towers, and youngsters can meet Snow Queen Elsa.

'Fairy Tales and Legends' on Sunday, August 23 has been organised by West Norfolk Council and the Vancouver Quarter.

Elizabeth Nockolds, the borough council's cabinet member for culture, heritage and health, said: 'The Corn Exchange, Arts Centre and Hanse House are offering a huge range of workshops and activities, where children can make puppets, write their own stories and just have fun.

'People will be able to stop off at points along the way, including the Custom House and Clifton Towers to see street theatre or take part in activities. In the town centre, people will be able to meet storytelling bookworms, Prince Charming and Cinderella, and Baxter's Plain will become a dragon's lair complete with an amazing-looking dragon.'
