A pair of vets from south Norfolk will cycle more than 110 miles for charity this weekend, taking in 16 farms along the way.

Steven Trickey and Chris Lehrbach, directors at Chapelfield Vets, will ride across the county visiting all of the practice's dairy farmers.

Chapelfield vets, which has practices in Long Stratton, Wymondham, Brooke, Costessey and Norwich is part of XLVets group.

XLVets, which operates in the UK, southern Ireland and New Zealand, has challenged all its practices to travel a total of 23,605.63 miles without an engine as part of their tenth birthday celebrations.

The five practices locally have been challenged to travel 453.95 of those miles.

The cycle challenge will start and finish at the Brooke Equine Clinic, taking in dairy farms including ones in Topcroft, Tasburgh, Forncett St Peter, Attleborough, Snetterton, Larling, Shipdham and Lyng.

Mr Trickey said: 'The route finder map says 110 miles, but that is using the main roads, so will be using some of the smaller back roads, which may add a couple of miles on to the journey.'

The 110-mile cycle will contribute towards this target and raise money for two charities - Send a Cow which helps communities across rural Africa to build thriving futures from the land, and The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution - a welfare charity for farming people in financial difficulty.
