A classic children's story is being given a historical twist in a new production by a Norfolk dance school.
Lewis Carroll's Alice In Wonderland is being taken in a new direction by Michala Jane School of Dance in their latest show, which is at Norwich Theatre Royal in October.
Set at the end of the Second World War, it sees towns and villages across the country preparing to welcome back their returning heroes. But their return is tainted with sadness for many, particularly young Alice who is mourning the loss of her father and wants to retreat to a place where nothing is actually real.
Cue an exciting adventure with lots of fantastic characters, music and dance.
School principal Michala Jane Bott said: 'The show is a magical journey through Alice's wonderland meeting all your favourite characters. We've taken the very heart of Lewis Carroll's books and put them to everybody's most loved music, including everything from Elgar to Adam Ant, Chas 'N' Dave to Bastille. We are joined by the Mere Players and the Norwich Sea Cadets to unite the anniversaries of Alice in Wonderland (150 years), VJ Day (70 years) and Michala Jane School of Dance (20 years), and what a wonderful way to celebrate.'
The production will be supporting the Royal British Legion.
The show is at Norwich Theatre Royal on October 4 at 7.30pm. Visit www.theatreroyalnorwich.co.uk
