More than 150 crib scenes of all shapes and sizes will be on display at the annual Christmas Crib Festival at Rosebery Road Methodist Church in Norwich.

It is open on December 4, 5, 11 and 12 from 10.30am to 4.30pm and on December 6 from 12-4.30pm, Proceeds will go to the East Anglia Children's Hospices nook Appeal.

Visitors can listen to informal organ recitals from Tim Patient on both Saturdays at 11am. On the evening of December 5 the Norwich Singers are giving a Christmas Concert, 7.30pm, also in aid of EACH.

n Fakenham Parish Church holds its 15th Christmas Tree Festival from next Thursday until December 10, 10am-8pm (12-7.30pm on December 6).

The festival attracted more than 20,000 people last year and raised almost £18,000 for charities. This year more than 60 charities will be taking part and there will be 70-plus trees.

The Friends of St Nicholas' Church, Dersingham, welcome back Bilton Silver (Rugby) Band with David Stowell again as professional conductor for this year's Christmas Concert on December 5, 7.30pm. Christ Church at Eaton welcomes the Very Rev Jane Hedges, Dean of Norwich Cathedral, to preside and preach at the 10am Advent Sunday communion service tomorrow. At 6.30pm there will be a candlelit Advent carol service, with carols for choir and congregation, accompanied by Neil Ricketts at the organ and led by the Rev Colin Way.

On Wednesday at 6.30pm the Lord Mayor of Norwich will switch on the lights of more than 30 Christmas trees in St Peter Mancroft Church, Norwich for the festival jointly organised with the Rotary Club of Norwich St Edmund.

A tree of memories will provide an opportunity for members of the public to make a dedication in memory of a loved one during the festival and the weeks before Christmas.

The festival is open on Thursday 10am-8pm, Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday 1-6.30pm and Monday 10am-5pm.

Bowthorpe Church on Bowthorpe Hall Road has its first Christmas Tree Festival on Friday from 10am-4pm, Saturday 10am-4pm, Sunday 10am-12.30pm. The event will end with a thanksgiving service on Sunday December 6, 10.30am.

Mattishall Methodist Church has a Christmas carol concert featuring Toftwood Singers and The Windmill Handbells on Thursday, 7.30pm. A collection is in aid of Action for Children.

Wymondham Abbey will once again be presenting an Advent Spiral in the main part of the church from Tuesday to Thursday, 10am-6pm.

The idea behind an Advent Spiral is to walk to the centre in search of light.

The light is spread with candles throughout the spiral, helping to symbolically bring light into the darkest days of the year.

There are also two evening sessions on contemplative prayer on Tuesday and Wednesday, 7-9pm.
