The Eastern Daily Press can today announce the finalists for the inaugural Stars of West Norfolk who have been specially selected for their dedication to the community.

There are just days to go to find out the winners of the categories which include Community Support of the Year, Unsung Hero of the Year and Team of the Year.

Selfless carers, volunteers and workers who go above and beyond will all be highlighted in a dazzling evening at the King's Lynn Alive Corn Exchange.

These gems of the community will finally have their turn to take centre stage and receive the appreciation they so richly deserve.

Organiser Mick Parker, managing director at Parker Communications, said: 'The Stars Awards are now 10 years old: we started in Suffolk 10 years ago and this is the first year in West Norfolk. People really, really love the awards.

'Local businesses get involved where we have established the awards in most parts of East Anglia and the event has a tremendous reputation.

'The formula we have works so well and recognises people who don't expect recognition. Every evening is very, very emotional and brings people together in a way that's never been done before.

'Without these people in the community we would be so much poorer. It's an amazing opportunity and everybody is looking forward to it.'

Two special recognition awards will be handed to those who do not necessarily fit the set categories.

The awards ceremony, hosted by Charles Dennett of KLFM, will take place on September 2.

Nigel Pickover, editor in chief of the Eastern Daily Press and Norwich Evening News, will be a guest speaker at the event.
