The Norwich based brewery saw off competition from hundreds of competitors to triumph in the Golden Ales Category.

Silver went to Diggers Gold from the Grey Trees Brewery in Wales and bronze went to Marble Ale at Lagonda IPA in Manchester.

Elsewhere in the region, Adnams in Southwold won bronze in the strong bitters category for their Ghost Ship ale.

Head and founder of Golden Triangle Brewery, Kevin Tweedy from Norwich was overjoyed with the brewery's latest accolade.

He said: 'We were very surprised and absolutely delighted to win this fantastic award yesterday at the beer festival.'

Mosaic City is described on the brewery's website as an 'award winning 3.8% single hopped pale ale brewed with Maris Otter extra pale malt and the unique Mosaic hop.' The ale has also recently been re-branded, with the new design set to go on the winning brew.

Kevin started the brewery in 2010, where he brewed beers in his kitchen on Mile End Road and chose the name after his Golden Triangle address. When the kitchen got too small for his growing business, he moved to commercial premises on the Barford Industrial Estate.

Kevin's local, The Beehive pub on Leopold Road was the first to stock his award-winning beer and over the past six years has earned a reputation as one of the best brewers in the region.

'We brewed our first commercial beer, City Gold on May 10 2011 and the first pint was served at the Beehive on Sunday May 22 2010,' he said.

The London event is Britain's largest beer festival, welcoming over 50,000 beer buffs each year and has built a strong reputation over its 39 year history. Brewers from across the nation battle it out in a number of categories including best bitter, speciality and stouts.

Each beer is judged by CAMRA's (Campaign for Real Ale) regional tasting panels, with the winners being put to a vote by members.

The Norwich brewery gained its coveted spot in the final by winning gold at the Colchester Beer Festival in January.

Kevin and the team celebrated in the only way they know how.

'We went back to the festival after the awards to celebrate with more Mosaic City,' he said.

•The award-winning ale is stocked at the following locations; The Plasterers, The King's Head, The Leopard, The Beehive, Take 5, The Rosebery, Coach & Horses and the Stanford Arms in Lowestoft.
