HSBC has confirmed it is to close the Gorleston branch at the beginning of the new year.
A dip in footfall has led to the bank deciding to close the building in the High Street on January 20.
The news means that for anyone who wishes to visit a HSBC branch, the next closest is in Great Yarmouth.
A HSBC spokesperson said: 'We continually review our branch network to make sure our branches are in the right locations for our customers and we have a sustainable network for the future.
'Over the past five years, we have seen an overall reduction in footfall at our branches of more than 40pc and sometimes we have to make the difficult decision to close branches.
'These are not decisions we take lightly and we work closely with those impacted, including customers and staff, to help them understand their options.
'We understand branch closures may cause concern for some of our customers. We have put in place a number of measures to help, including a partnership with the Post Office, so our customers can still carry out their day to day banking.'
HSBC also revealed that 93pc of contact with the bank is now completed via the telephone, internet or smartphone, while 97pc of cash withdrawals are made via an ATM.
Kevin Huggins, vice chairman of the Gorleston Traders Association said: 'Internet banking has taken over and therefore footfall to the bank has dropped, however the High Street has continued to strive through that period, so I don't think it will be noticed that much although it is always sad to see businesses close down.
'The main trouble is that would be quite a large building to fill.'
On Gorleston High Street there are still Lloyds and Barclays branches, while HSBC said that their customers' day-to-day banking needs can be dealt with at the nearest Post Office which is also on the High Street.
Kay Grey, UKIP borough councillor for the Gorleston ward said: 'It's always disappointing when any business moves away from our high street, but unless you bank with HSBC it is unlikely to have an effect on banking in Gorleston. I personally think it is a mistake and they will lose a few customers to the other banks.'
