Teenage Lowestoft photographer’s shot of a fox scoops top prize

Kyle Moore's photograph of the fox below a streetlamp won the top prize in the RSPCA Young Photographer Awards.

The Park Life picture beat thousands of images to win the competition, and was described as 'simply stunning' by naturalist and television presenter Chris Packham.

He said the image 'really stood out' for the whole judging panel, adding: 'It tells a story as it shows the fox coming out of the shadows drinking from a shallow puddle in street light.

'The timing was perfect and Kyle should be very proud!'

The photograph was taken in a park in Ilford, east London, and Mr Moore used a slow shutter speed to give transparency to the fox's tail.

Mr Moore, whose work has been honoured before in photography competitions said: 'Foxes are like the ghosts of the city – so I am pleased the ghosting effect has worked so well in this picture.

'I'm really proud of it.'

He said he was 'shocked' to win the competition but hopes to pursue a career in wildlife photography.

The teenager won a weekend photography break and £750 of Wex Photographic vouchers.
