The launch of a new youth theatre group has seen young thespians engaged and enthralled with the world of performing arts.
The Marina Theatre Trust, in Lowestoft, launched its youth theatre group with a free taster session on Saturday- which saw more than 30 youngsters tread the boards at the popular coastal theatre.
Held on Saturday morning two sessions took place- one for nine to 12 year olds and another for 13 to 16 year olds- and the young actors and actresses could be seen excitedly engaging in a variety of performance styles.
Will Isgrove, 29, head of young people and outreach, said: 'It has been a really good turn-out and everybody has been really committed to it.
'The aim is for all those who attend to experience a variety of different skills used in the theatre, while meeting new people and trying new things.'
He added: 'Drama is important for confidence building more than anything else. 'There are a lot of transferable skills that they will learn which are important for life such as communicating with people.'
The group aims to encourage young people to get involved the world of theatre and drama by teaching them a range of skills essential to theatrical performance, including- creative writing, musical theatre, backstage and technical theatre skills.
The sessions are to be held every Saturday morning during school term time and will culminate in a summer production to be performed at the Marina Theatre.
One attendee, Annie Angus, 14, from Lowestoft, said: 'It is really fun and it's just nice to meet new people. I have always been a big fan of drama and when I am older I would like to be a an actress.
'I really hope the techniques I learn here will give me the chance to become an actress- Will is a good teacher and it is a great place to be.'
The fee for the first term is £65- this can be paid in one payment or on a half-term basis at £32.50.
