With Italian restaurant chains on every street it can often be hard to find an authentic spot - but help is at hand. Here's five brilliant eateries where you can grab a pizza the action.

Brick Pizza, 39 Market Place

This authentic eatery can be found tucked away in a corner of the market. Bringing traditional Italian cooking methods to Norfolk, the pizzas are made in a wood-burning brick oven which gives them their signature subtle charred taste and crispy base. The menu offers 12 different pizzas, with toppings such as locally produced Norfolk ham and porcini mushrooms. Vegan options are also available. Or if you fancy personalising your pizza you can order off-menu too, making it simple to create the perfect pizza to suit all tastes.

The restaurant operates on a bring-your-own alcohol basis, for a small corkage fee, meaning that a visit to Brick is easily a low-cost meal out.

Not only do they serve a top quality pizza, but Brick's owners also give back to the community. They run a 'buy a brick' scheme in which you pay £4 to buy a pizza for someone in need. You write your name on a brick and it's crossed off once the pizza has been given away. Brick combines high quality food, reasonable prices, and moral consciousness, making for a guilt-free Italian experience.

The Red Lion, 79 Bishopgate

The Red Lion pub, with its classic British menu and traditional English appearance, doesn't scream 'authentic Italian pizza'. Yet this restaurant boasts a surprisingly extensive pizza menu, all of which are handmade to order. Try the Bianca, topped with pear and gorgonzola, for something off the beaten track.

At between £8 and £10 for a 12' pizza, The Red Lion's prices aren't to be scoffed at either. What's more, on Tuesdays and Thursdays you get a free bottle of house wine with two pizzas, and a complimentary bowl of olives with pre-booked tables.

Its riverside location makes this a great option for a special occasion.

Amaretto Delicatessen,16 St Georges Street

Amaretto Delicatessen has been run by its Tuscan owner, Fabrizio, since May 2008. The deli's specialities include Spanish cheeses, cured meats, and freshly made warm Italian dishes. But perhaps the best they have to offer are their stone-baked pizzas, made by Moyses and served by the (enormous) slice for just £2.

The deli is packed with goodies which you can buy in order to bring a bit of Italy to your Norfolk home.

It's takeaway only so perfect for a cosy night in.

Donnelli's Pizzeria, 17 Timber Hill

The owners of Donnelli's Pizzeria profess to follow the original guidelines for the real Neapolitan pizza which originated in Naples in the 18th Century.

Their menu is consistent with Italian cooking traditions, which value the quality of ingredients over food fads.

They offer only the most classic, traditional toppings - you won't find any wacky combos here! Instead, Donnelli's use fresh homemade tomato sauce, extra virgin olive oil, mozzarella, and fresh herbs as the base for all of their pizzas, showcasing simple Italian cuisine at its best.

Trattoria Rustica, 20 Princes Street

You will find Trattoria Rustica nestled on the cobbles of Princes Street. It may not look like much from the outside, but this Italian restaurant placed 8th in the top 10 Trattoria's of the UK, awarded by Bertolli and BBC Good Food 2016.

They are the most expensive on our list, with pizzas costing between £11 and £14, but this is certainly made worth it as they are crammed with toppings.

The venue itself only adds to the feeling that you've stepped into Naples. Traditional décor confirms Trattoria Rustica's Italian roots without being kitschy. This is certainly a place to check out if you're after an immersive Italian experience.
