South Norfolk Police were called to six incidents of cars coming off the road in just two hours this morning as icy conditions caused dangerous driving conditions.

Police have warned drivers to take care on the roads even though the ice is thawing. South Norfolk Police tweeted: 'This is now the 6th vehicle off the road in 2hrs dealt with by @SouthNorfPolice+ @NSRoadsPolicing please take care, even now suns out!'

The calls included one to Morley Lane in Besthorpe at 8.58am after a Renault Clio flipped over. A fire crew from Wymondham were called to make the area safe and the East of England Ambulance Service were also in attendance and treated a woman in her 40s who was discharged at the scene.

At 9.05am a car ended up in a ditch on New Road in Tacolneston, near to the Hall Road junction. The East of England Ambulance Service were called but later stood down by police as the driver, a woman in her 40s, was only complaining of minor wrist pain. And at 9.19am a vehicle went off the road at Hall Road in Winfarthing. No-one was injured and the owner of the vehicle is arranging their own recovery.

The accidents follow a serious crash in Weeting at 6.40am where a car crashed into a tree.
