Two teenagers were rescued by coastguard officers after getting cut off by the tide at Brancaster in Norfolk.

And just two hours later emergency workers were called out again to a middle-aged couple who had got stranded nearby.

UK Coastguard requested the launch of Hunstanton Hovercraft at 4pm on Saturday, July 8 to go to the aid of two people cut off by the tide on the Wreck sands at Brancaster.

On arrival, it was found that the two teenage boys had crossed over to the Scolt Head Island and had been cut off by the incoming tide.

They were taken on board the hovercraft which landed on the beach near the golf club, before being taken into the care of the Hunstanton Coastguard response team.

The teenagers apologised to the crew for getting into that situation but were thankful for their assistance.

The hovercraft returned to its base at 5.15pm - but at 6.05pm, the Coastguard requested re-launch of vehicle to go to the aid of two people reported to be stranded on Thornham marshes.

The middle-aged couple from the London area were taken to Thornham Harbour.

The hovercraft returned to base at 7.35pm.
