A grandmother from Wells has had her first children's book published, inspired by her love of wildlife.
Sally Bailey-Young, 69, wrote the story, titled 'Oliver the Owl', after watching the birds flying over the North Norfolk salt marshes on walks with her beloved German Shepherd, Archie.
Mrs Bailey-Young said: 'I've written poems all my life but this is the first time I've had something published.
'I often wondered what the owls do when they're not flying, and hunting, and swooping in the sky.
The story sees Oliver the owl make friends with characters including Hugo, a scarecrow, and Gilbert, a stag.
She said that the book, which is aimed at children from ages 4 to 8, had gone down well in Wells.
'I've sold lots of signed copies, and the post office has another order coming from the publishers.'
She said that children have asked what Oliver will do next, and that she has plans for more stories 'for children to enjoy as much as my grandchildren have,' in the future.
