The Lowestoft branch of an organisation supporting serving and former members of the British Army's Royal Artillery has celebrated its 70th anniversary.

Members of the town's Royal Artillery Association (RAA) gathered for a special dinner at Ivy House Country Hotel, in Oulton Broad, on Saturday, October 7.

The event was attended by figures such as MP for Waveney Peter Aldous and deputy leader of Waveney District Council, Stephen Ardley.

A spokesman for the association said: 'The RAA formed in 1920 to support serving an ex-gunners and their families when in need.

'The committee would like to thank all who attended - with special thanks to the six members of the Peterborough branch who travelled to Lowestoft to be with us on the night.'

The Lowestoft branch say new members are always welcome and those who wish to find out more information may contact Steve Brooks, secretary, on 07710688148, or Allan Jacobs, chairman, on 07888790265.
