Two north Norfolk men with more than 50 years' experience of rambling between them have been given long service achievement awards.
Don Davenport and Dereck Smith were presented with the awards by Richard May, area chairman of the Ramblers' Association, at the Sheringham group's annual dinner at the Cliftonville Hotel in Cromer.
More than 70 guests were in attendance and Stuart Meakin, Sheringham Ramblers' treasurer and founder, said: 'They received these good service certificates for their long and meritorious service to Sheringham Ramblers. They have both been involved in the local group for about 25 years. In fact, Dereck introduced Don to rambling. Don's also involved in the Walkers are Welcome group in Cromer.'
The Sheringham group has about 200 members and hosts long and short walks twice monthly. The group covers an area greater than just north Norfolk and hosts a number of social events and get-togethers.
