An Ipswich Town fan who punched a hole in his ceiling during an overenthusiastic post-goal celebration was left in shock when the Blues player responsible for his reaction offered to pay for the damage.
Life-long Town fan Ross Morgan, 25, was watching Saturday’s East Anglian derby at home with friends when Paul Anderson’s equalizer just before half-time sent him “absolutely mental”.
“I jumped up and went crazy and made a fist punch through the ceiling,” he said.
“I was going absolutely mental and then when I noticed my fist had gone through the ceiling I stopped for a second and thought, what have I done?
“But then I decided it doesn’t matter too much and continued to jump around like crazy.”
Mr Morgan, who lives in Wetherby, near Leeds, posted a picture of the damage caused on Twitter, tagging Anderson in his tweet.
Unexpectedly the Blues player tweeted back and offered to pay for the damage caused.
“I just thought what a top bloke,” Mr Morgan said.
Mr Morgan will be watching the second leg of the play-offs at home again next weekend, when he hopes to keep his celebrations in check.
