Police are appealing for information after arsonists attacked a heating oil storage depot in Diss on Bank Holiday Monday.
A large Portacabin office at CPL Petroleum in Prince Regent Way was set alight in the early hours of the morning. The secure compound where heating oil was stored was left undamaged. No-one was hurt during the incident.
Following an investigation by the fire service and police crime scene investigators, the fire is being treated as arson.
Investigating officer PC Steve Price said: “This fire could have been far more serious. There are private homes and business premises in the area and if the blaze had spread, it could well have led to large-scale damage and injury to members of the public.
“I am keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area in the early hours of Monday, whether that be a person or a vehicle hanging around. I would also encourage anyone who knows who was responsible for this incident to contact me.”
PC Price can be contacted at Diss Police Station on 0845 4564567 or alternatively information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers via 0800 555111.
