JEAN PATERSON KELSALL

Published on 21/11/2024

Passed away on Sunday 17th November, 2024, aged 81 years, after a brief escalation of her heart issues. Loving wife to Richard, much loved mum to Jamie and Fiona, beloved Granya to Flo and Alfie and ever-present to brothers Gavin and John (predeceased), Jean will be sadly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her. In her last hours, Jean was surrounded by her family, offering us a chance to say goodbyes before she left us peacefully and without pain to memories of happier times.

Jean was born to Jean and John Alston at the working farm of Frenze Hall, Diss, Norfolk in April 1943. She often spoke fondly of her own time there, and her interactions with Cowmen and POWs working the farm. It was in Diss she met Richard at the Young Farmers. They married in 1965, honeymooning in Opatia, Croatia. Jamie was born in 1968 with the family living in Diss. 1970 saw the birth of Fiona and later a move to Hacheston, Suffolk via Dennington.

Jean’s life as a family of four was filled with both children often driving her to distraction whilst she tried to keep Richard from working too hard. This period was seeded with her love of painting, musical theatre and pantomime, sun worshipping holidays at home and abroad, skating Meres, visits to Gran, Christmas dinners with brothers' families, nieces and nephews at Frenze, her beloved gardens, as well as many years volunteering at Meals on Wheels and Stroke Club.

With an empty nest, Jean, with Richard, were able to relax and spend excellent time with family and friends, enjoying for many a year Saga Louts and annual travels to far away climes. They renovated and moved to a cosy cottage in Framlingham, Suffolk in 2000. Jean’s time was well spent in Fram with grandchildren and Shadow the dog, looking after Dad and Oscar the cat, and tending her lovely walled garden.

Jean was always thinking of others up to her end and left us with her heartfelt thanks to family and friends before one final long sleep and waking beyond the clouds.

A funeral service is to take place on Thursday 28th November, 2024, at 12 noon at All Saints Church, Hacheston.

In the spirit of Jean’s love of colour, please feel free to wear brightly coloured attire.

Family flowers only please, but donations to Scleroderma & Raynaud’s UK if desired in memory of Jean may be made via https://jeankelsall.muchloved.com or cheques made payable to 'Scleroderma & Raynaud's UK' may be sent C/O Markham Funeral Service, The Old Cart Lodge, Bridge Farm, Ash Road, Lower Hacheston, Woodbridge IP13 0AA.
