After years of planning, fundraising and tireless support from well-wishers, a Norfolk hospice has moved to its new £3.4m premises.

Thoughout September, volunteers and staff at The Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House, have been packing up ready for the big move a new purpose-built facility in Hillington.

The move from the former location in Snettisham, comes in the hospice's 30th anniversary year.

Mark Shea, commercial director at The Norfolk Hospice said he is delighted that the move has been accomplished and wanted to pay tribute to all that has been involved.

He said: 'I want to thank everyone involved for helping us to achieve the unachievable. Firstly to members of the community who by their constant support have made possible the building of our new hospice. It would have been unthinkable without their considerable financial support. We shall continue to need funds to finish the entire project, so please - keep the donations coming.

'Secondly, I want to thank all volunteers who have packed and unpacked for us. They made the whole operation run as smoothly as any move can, and we are very grateful. We are all looking forward to the beginning of a new era for the charity and the people it serves.'

With such a big move, the hospice said that all staff went to great lengths to safeguard the standard of care and support for patients and carers during that time.

The hospice added it is working hard to complete a new inpatient unit, and is aiming to have it ready by the end of November.
