Kelling Heath, Weybourne

This site's setting on Kelling Heath makes it a unique location for a camping holiday. You can explore the woodland and spot an array of native wildlife such as deer, lizards and butterflies. At night, cast your gaze upwards to appreciate the star-studded sky, free of light pollution.

You don't have to go much further afield to enjoy more of what Norfolk has to offer. It's under a 10 minute drive to either the coast or National Trust site, Sheringham Park.

Facilities include fully equipped amenity buildings with hot showers and dishwashing and laundry sinks. For an extra fee you can access an electric hook-up point, water and TV connection. £19.80- £36.50 per pitch per night, depending on season.

Deepdale Farm, Burnham

Deepdale is an eco-site with 75 pitches for tents and small camper vans, or you can go glamping and hire a tepee or shepherd's hut. The site is located on the North Norfolk coastline and is surrounded by beaches and nature reserves. Make your way along the coastal path on foot or hire a bike at the campsite for a picturesque day out.

There is free wifi on site, as well as charging points, laundry and drying facilities, modern toilets and showers, all of which are powered by renewable electricity.

Adults £4.50 to £8 per person per night mid-week, depending on season. Children from £2.50. Two-night minimum stay at weekends.

Ling's Meadow, Diss

This small site only accommodates 25 guests, making it an ideal destination for campers hoping to while away the days listening to the birds and enjoying the largely untouched natural surroundings.

With a kitchen, washing up facilities, a campfire, toilets and showers, this is a well-equipped site. Although you will have to surrender to a device-free stay as there is no electricity or wifi on the meadow and phone signal is scarce.

£10 per adult per night at weekends, £8 on weekdays. Children pay half price.

Deer's Glade, Hanworth

Families looking for a stress-free break should head to this five-star, pet-friendly site. It hosts tents and caravans, or you can hire camping pods and shepherd's huts for a more bohemian experience.

There is an on-site shop, children's play area, picnic area, free wifi across the park, and two WC blocks. Nearby, you will find Holt, a historic Georgian market town filled with independently run shops and cafés.

Pitch prices range from £12.50 to £17 for two people depending on season. Additional adults are £7.25, and £2 for under-15-year-olds.

High Sand Creek Campsite, Stiffkey

Stepping out of your tent, you will be greeted by the expanse of salt marshes which surround this site. The unusual setting has a wild but romantic feel, making it a perfect spot for couples. It is particularly beautiful in winter (if you can bear to brave the plummeting temperatures) when early sunsets cast an eerie light over the lavender which grows untamed throughout the site.

Families will find lots to do here too as part of the site is reserved for ball games, and you can borrow toys, balls and such like from reception. The bridge near the site is great for crabbing, and nets and bait are also available on site. Beware of marsh tides though. A timetable is available from reception to stop you getting stranded at high-tide.

There are no electricity hook-ups on this old-school site, but you will find sinks for washing clothes and dishes, 12 showers and toilets, and gas available for sale. £12 to £16 for a family of four, depending on the season

The Old Vicarage Campsite, Moulton St Mary

This tent-only campsite has no formal pitches, but campers are guaranteed ample space as the site boasts three acres of land. Facilities are simple and eco-friendly. You will find the standard fare - toilets, showers, water, and bins – no more, no less.

The owners stress the importance of campfires to the camping experience. Since you won't find any other cooking facilities at The Old Vicarage, embracing this ethos is pretty vital.

In the near-by town of Acle you will find small shops and a footpath which runs alongside the River Bure. £8 for adults. £3 for 3 to 16-year olds. Under-3s go free.

Swallowtails, Holt

Campers looking for jam-packed days should head to Swallowtails for an activity-filled trip. The owners offer pizza nights, den building, yoga, and pottery classes to keep you entertained during your trip.

Facilities are minimal but high quality, with showers, sinks for washing, a communal campfire, and a 'supplies hut' where you can grab any essentials.

From £33 per night per pitch, this is a more expensive site but is certainly worth the extra cost if you're visiting with children.

Whitlingham Broad Campsite, Trowse

Situated in the Broads National Park, this site will hit the spot for adventurers.

Hire a canoe or kayak and spend the day drifting along the Broads, or head into Norwich city centre which is less than 2 miles away.

The site provides permanent BBQs, showers, toilets, and a washing up area, although there is no electricity hook-up or wifi.

£7 to £9 per adult per night and £4 to £5 for under-16s, depending on season.
