Norfolk Constabulary has revealed that more than 14,000 people are registered to own or purchase a firearm in North Norfolk.
After a Freedom of Information request, the police force revealed that 14,009 residents have a firearms and shotguns license.
Between July 3 2016, and July 3 2017, 20 applications from North Norfolk residents were refused by Norfolk Constabulary.
This means that those applicants were either viewed as a potential danger to public peace, did not have good enough reason to own a firearm, or are not fit or trustworthy enough to have one in their possession.
Firearms licenses currently cost £50 to purchase, and £40 to renew.
The revelation follows a rise in 2015 to 2016 of firearms both seized from Norfolk residents, and those reported lost or stolen., Across Norfolk, 33 firearms were reported lost or stolen, and 231 were seized.
