About 9,000 extra images spanning all manner of subjects have just been added to the archive which is run by Norfolk County Council's Library and Information Service. The addition of the images is the result of a two-year project to expand the archive. It means there are now about 25,000 Norfolk images from the last 170 years available to look at on the website which shares images held by the Library and Information Service, Norfolk Museums Service and Norfolk Record Office, as well as in private collections.
Clare Everitt, Norfolk County Council's Picture Norfolk administrator, said: 'This has greatly strengthened and enriched the Picture Norfolk archive, revealing so many stories which were previously hidden. It's been a real pleasure to be able to bring to the fore the rich sources of evidence about the county's past which are captured within the photographic record.'
