Two women have been arrested on suspicion of arson after two building fires within a few miles of each other.

Fire crews were called to a property in Clarendon Close in Great Yarmouth at 9.30pm on Saturday.

Police also attended and a woman in her 30s was arrested, taken to Great Yarmouth police station for questioning and released on bail.

Within half an hour, fire crews were called to the second suspected arson at a property in Oxford Avenue, in Gorleston, at 10pm.

That saw police arrest another woman in her 30s on suspicion of arson.

She was also taken to Great Yarmouth police station for questioning and released on bail while investigations continue.

Police have confirmed that despite the similarities, both incidents are unrelated.

The buildings were evacuated during the fires.
