Elliot Myles netted the decisive goal to secure Wales U17s' place at the European Championships this summer after a 2-1 victory over Bulgaria.

The Norwich City youngster came off the bench to double the lead for Wales and book their spot in this summer's tournament due to be held in Cyprus in May.

Wales took the lead courtesy of a strike from West Brom youngster Oliver Bostock before Myles added a second in the 74th minute. Bulgaria converted a late consolation through defender Mihail Yordanov Polendakov, but it wasn't enough to prevent the victory.

It has secured Wales' place in this summer's finals after ensuring they will finish as runners up of Group B behind Sweden. After a wait of 41 years to qualify, they have now achieved qualification in successive tournaments.

Myles' qualification with Wales is the first time there will be City representation at the Championships since Andrew Omobamidele and Josh Giurgi went with Ireland four years ago.

The winger has now netted three goals in five qualification matches to cement his place in the under-17 set-up. He previously represented England's U17s on three occasions before switching his allegiance to Wales.

Wales will learn their opponents in the draw for the finals on Wednesday, April 3 in Ayia Napa. The 15 qualified teams – alongside hosts Cyprus – will be split into four groups of four for the final tournament, with the top two in each section progressing to the knockout phase.

Myles signed his first professional contract at Carrow Road in January despite interest from a host of top clubs after his impressive performances in City's academy.

That has prompted him to be exposed to more under-21 minutes despite just turning 17. Myles has netted in both of his last two outings for Alan Neilson's men, but missed their 2-1 defeat to Reading last time out.

The youngster is rated highly inside Colney, and sporting director Ben Knapper moved quickly to secure his long-term future at Carrow Road.

Myles will now return to City ahead of a hectic finale to the youth season with three more Premier League Two matches and a Norfolk Senior Cup semi-final versus Gorleston.
