Temperatures soared to more than 30C across the region yesterday - making it the hottest day of the year so far.

But forecasters in Norwich have warned that the mercury will continue to rise today.

Tibenham, near Diss, was recorded as the hottest place in Norfolk on Sunday, with temperatures of 30.1C.

However, it was the village of Cavendish in Suffolk which was the warmest place in the region, with thermometers rising to 30.7C.

But it will cool off by Tuesday, as temperatures drop to a more 'comfortable' 22C, according to forecaster Phil Garner.

On Sunday, Norwich experienced temperatures of more than 29C, while Cromer was slightly cooler at 25.3C.

Mr Garner said the heatwave was caused by an area of high pressure over southern Britain.
