A charity which helps victims of domestic abuse will be getting a Christmas boost - thanks to a social enterprise staffed by prisoners.

Britannia Enterprises has decided to support Norwich-based charity Leeway over the festive period.

The social enterprise, set up by its chief executive Davina Tanner, is behind Cafe Britannia, Bistro Britannia and the soon-opening Park Britannia, all staffed by low risk prisoners or ex-offenders.

The aim is to raise at least £1,000 for Leeway, with a string of events organised to help reach the goal.

A Christmas craft fair, vintage and makers market will be held at Cafe Britannia, overlooking Mousehold Heath, From November 24 - 26.

All stallholders' fees will be donated to Leeway and the event has been timed to coincide with White Ribbon Day on November 25 and the 16 days of action against domestic violence campaign.

Customers at both Café Britannia and Bistro Britannia will also be invited to 'Round up for Leeway' when paying for their meals across the whole of the Christmas period, and important information about the charity – including their confidential helpline number – will feature on menus.

Bistro Britannia, at Norwich's Guildhall, will also be a drop-off venue for the Leeway's Christmas 2017 Appeal which is seeking donations for the women and children staying at the charity's safe houses.

And Leeway's annual Christmas Quiz will take place at the new venue Park Britannia, in the pavilion at Waterloo Park, on Thursday, December 7.
