The owners of a pier in Great Yarmouth are pulling out all the stops for the upcoming season following a winter of renovations.

Since the Britannia Pier's new owners took over the historic attraction in December 2022, they immediately got to work on bringing the pier into the 21st century, renovating the arcades and installing new rides at the funfair.

Now owners Joseph Abbott and Joseph Manning have unveiled the new restaurant inside the pier.

The former Sea Chef restaurant has been rebranded Krispies Fish and Chip Co and has seen extensive upgrades to seating, lighting and the menu.

"Feedback has been really positive and it has been great to see people coming down to see what's been added."

Given the scale of the property, the owners are currently focusing on one major project a year while carrying out smaller upgrades throughout the season.

A decision on the planning bid is expected over the coming weeks.

People are so passionate about the pier and we hope we're getting the balance just right.

"It is such a huge project, and there is still more to come."

Easter at the Britannia Pier

With recent mild weather, director Cherise Abbott said the Britannia Pier has already seen a rise in footfall from this time last year.

There is a lot of hope heading into the Easter holiday, and the pier is putting on "something for all ages," including an 18+ night of Bingo Bango on Sunday, March 31.

Guests are invited to laugh and dance their socks off at "maybe the most random show on earth," with singalongs, silly prizes and a good old-fashioned game of bingo with a modern twist.

Pier manager Keegan Snell said: "Bingo Bango has been very popular at Butlins across the UK. It is really good fun."

Mrs Abbott added: "This year has got off to a great start, and we are hopeful for a great Easter and an even better summer."
