The rain may have been falling, but that did little to dampen the spirits of people at the Royal Norfolk Show.

Visitors proved themselves a hardy bunch as they donned wellies and rain coats to attend the second day of the annual event.

Royal Norfolk Show chairman Rob Alston said: "We’ve had a few millimetres of rain overnight but it should be clearing by mid-morning and we are set for another fantastic day.

“The event continues to build and popularity increases.”

The weather is expected to brighten up this afternoon, with patchy sunshine and temperatures in the high teens.

Mr Alston said visitor numbers for day one hadn’t been confirmed but they were “certainly 40,000 making it on budget.”

He said opening the gates at 7am rather than 8am had been a good decision and meant people enjoyed more of the show.
