An eight-day long inquest is due to be held into the death of a 32-year-old Crohn's disease sufferer who died from malnutrition and neglect. 

The court heard how Mohammed Azizi, who was unemployed at the time of his death, lived with the inflammatory bowel disease and had been neglecting his basic needs. 

He died at the Norfolk and Norwich hospital in Colney on Monday, May 15. 

An inquest into his death was opened on Tuesday, June 27 at Norfolk Coroner’s Court by coroner Yvonne Blake. 

Ms Blake gave the medical cause of death as cardiac atrophy and failure, due to or as a result of malnutrition, Crohn’s disease and self-neglect, with pulmonary thromboembolism and infarction. 

An inquest into his death is due to take from April 16 to April 25, 2024. 

The brother of Mr Azizi confirmed that Mohammed Amin Azizi, of Knox Road, Norwich, was born on December 23, 1990, in Harlow, Essex.
