A new north Norfolk bistro has been a hit with locals - and is already seeing people return after just ten days open.

Gibson's Bistro has opened in Church Street, Cromer, and staff say "there has not been one negative comment".

The restaurant, in the former Henry's Coffee Shop & Kitchen, is run by chef Matt Gibson, who previously worked at the Pheasant Hotel and the Feathers.

The 44-year-old is helped by his wife Emilie, who is "the boss" - working in the restaurant when she is not on shift as a midwife, or looking after the couple's two children.

Mr Gibson said: "It has been really busy - crazy. People like the look of the place, with the photos of my family on the walls being a big talking point.

"Only three Gibsons remain, and I have lost all those in the photos, including my parents. The restaurant is in homage to them. I walk into work, look up, and say 'let's do this'.

"We've had great comments on the menu and have been selling loads of cake - there's not been one negative comment. It's magical."

With a focus on local produce, the chef is using crab fresh from the seafront, getting meat from the butcher across the road, and cake is on offer all day from Cromer-based Dotty's Cakes.

A takeaway menu and specials are planned for the future.

Gibson's Bistro is open 10am to 11.30am for brunch, 12pm to 2.30pm for lunch, and 6pm to 9pm for dinner, before an 11pm close.
