Those of you who have ever wondered if life in court is anything like what is depicted in television dramas will be able to find out in the city next month.
Norwich Crown Court is throwing open its doors to give families the chance to observe mock trials and sentencings, have a tour of the cells, experience a videolink and even meet a sniffer dog.
It is all part of an open day being held by the city's crown, family and county courts as part of a bid to give people the chance to learn more about the legal system and the administration of local justice in particular.
Speaking ahead of the event, due to take place on Thursday, April 6, Judge Alice Robinson, resident judge at the city's crown court and Honorary Recorder of Norwich, said: "This will be a great opportunity to see the administration of justice in action as well as peek behind the scenes of a busy court centre serving its local community. "
There will be a variety of stalls manned by representatives of a number of different organisations, including the police, Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), magistrates, the probation service, His Majesty's Prison Service as well as charities working with victims and offenders.
In addition, each courtroom will be offering something of interest to the public, including the mock trials and sentences run by students at the University of East Anglia (UEA).
The open day will also feature a number of presentations about roles within the justice system, youth crime and about mediation as well as a Q & A session with Judge Robinson and Judge Katharine Moore - the court's female judges.
The open day takes place at the law courts in Bishopgate, Norwich on April 6 between 10am and 3pm.
Admission is free.
