A warning has been issued after people selling their cars in Norfolk were targetted by scammers who tampered with the vehicles.
In both cases, three men visited a private seller and tampered with a car which was being advertised for sale.
The suspects then offered a lower-than-advertised price for the vehicle.
The first incident happened in Taverham on Wednesday, March 15.
While three males were looking at a car that was advertised for sale, the owner believes he was distracted as the men tampered with the engine.
During a test drive, plumes of smoke came out of the back of the vehicle.

The suspects then offered £6,000 less than the asking price, which the victim declined.
The second incident happened in Holt on Thursday, March 16.
The victim was visited by three men who he thinks put something into the engine and then claimed something was wrong with it.
They knocked the price down by more than £1,000.
