A sweet treat business that only opened a few months ago has opened a stall in Norwich Market.

Couple Olly Buxton and Lauren Allison, both 27, launched The Fudge Company online in January from their Swardeston home.

"My friend owns a sweet business and does quite well," said Olly, who works full-time as an air conditioning engineer.

"We looked at doing fudge instead because I didn't want to copy him!

"It's doing really well - sometimes we are getting around 50 orders a day - which is pretty busy for just the two of us.

"It is definitely doing better than we thought it would. We said that we would be happy with 10 orders a day, so 50 is pretty crazy!"

Having secured one of Norwich Market's pop-up stalls, the couple are enjoying bringing their sweet treats into the public eye.

"We've made several sales at the market and we have only been here for a few days, so it has definitely been a positive experience," said Olly.

The fudge is shipped to Olly and Lauren from fudge makers in Rochdale, and the couple then sells it through their website, offering a pick-and-mix option with over 40 different flavours - both traditional and unusual - to choose from.

The couple also sells gift boxes and hampers for those looking to treat someone.

"The hampers were particularly popular over the Easter period and Mother's Day," said Olly.

"We haven't experienced the Christmas season yet and, from what we have heard, it will be really busy."

Lauren is primarily running the business, having dropped her hours as a waitress to keep up with demand.

"Salted caramel and vanilla slice are our most popular flavours," she said.

Smarties has been a hit too," added Olly.

"We do offer more wacky flavours like jelly bean, which I really like, but people are often after the more traditional fudges.

"The crazier flavours are super nice - and really colourful!"

The stall is open between 10am and 4pm every day until Sunday, May 12.
